Putting Down Roots Program
For preschoolers at the Salamonie Interpretive Center April 11 & 26
The Salamonie Interpretive Center will host an enjoyable way for parents or grandparents and their children to learn about nature in an active and exciting way in a special program designed for youths age 2 to 5.
The fun will begin Wednesday, April 26 at 10 a.m.
In the one and a half hour program, children and their parents or caregiver will enjoy activities focused around growing plants and flowers, go outside, hear a story, enjoy a craft and tour the interpretive center and wildlife viewing window.
A $2 fee per child is required for each month to cover supply expenses. The property entrance fee is waived for program attendees.
Teresa Rody, interpretive naturalist said, “I’m looking forward to planting with the children this month. It amazes me how the children get so excited about planting seeds and growing new flowers.”
Parents are asked to pre-register for this event and stay with their child throughout the program. Participants can choose to bring their lunch to eat together after the event.

The center is open Wednesday through Friday and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. from October through April and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily from May through September.
This barrier-free building features exhibits, floor to ceiling windows in the wildlife viewing area, and staff to answer your questions. The center is located in Lost Bridge West Recreation Area on Highway 105 in western Huntington County.
