BERNICE BRANSTRATOR, 92
BERNICE BRANSTRATOR, 92, died Thursday September 2, 2004, at Select Specialty Hospital in Fort Wayne. As the former president of SandPoint Greenhouse prior to its sale in 2002, she maintained her interest in and contribution to this family owned business for over 75 years. She was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church and contributed faithfully to its support. As an avid golfer and bridge player, she was active in the Orchard Ridge Country Club and enjoyed a wealth of friends. She gave faithfully to many charities including the Alzheimer’s Fund, American Red Cross, March of Dimes, Salvation Army and World Choices. On behalf of her grandson, Bernice underwrote the addition of equipment instrumental in the rehabilitation of spinal cord injury victims. A warm and loving mother and grandmother, she adopted and supported children in need throughout the world.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Branstrator.
She is survived by her son, Jerry (Lois) Branstrator; and her daughter, Sharon Iovino (Jerry Embry) of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren, Philip Iovino, Sarah Branstrator, Danielle Iovino, Ben and David Branstrator; three step-grandchildren; two sisters, Selma Rodenbeck and Vera Troxel.
Service was Wednesday, September 8, at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road. Burial at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.
Preferred memorials is Alzheimer’s Fund.
