ROSEMARY C. BARTLETT (VORNDRAN) 88

ROSEMARY C. BARTLETT (VORNDRAN) 88, of Fort Wayne, passed away Wednesday morning, July 15, 2009, at Saint Anne Home and Retirement Community. She was born Rose Welling on August 10, 1920 in Spokane, Washington to George and Ellen Welling.

 

Rose was adopted as a young girl by her aunt and uncle, Minnie (Welling) and Andrew McGovern who lived on Walnut Street in Fort Wayne. Rose attended Saint Patrick’s Catholic School and graduated from the Commercial Catholic High School in 1936. During World War II, she worked at Wolf and Dessauer, Magnavox and General Electric. She retired from the Veterans Administration, Northern Indiana Health Care System in 1985 with 15 years of service. Rose was a dedicated volunteer with many hours of service to the VA Health Care System, First Baptist Church, West Central Ministries (Wellspring), American War Mothers and Saint Mary’s Soup Kitchen.

Rose was a devoted mother who dedicated her life to God and to her family. She remained interested and involved with her family until the very last.

She is survived by her sons: George H. Vorndran, Michael J. Vorndran and Paul J. Vorndran, all of Fort Wayne; daughters: Diana R. Garrett (Ray) of Shelby, OH; Mary C. Christie (James), of Phoenix, AZ; Kathleen M. Rigley (Robert) of Glendale, AZ; and Andrea M. Daggett (Larry) of Bryan, OH;  step-children, Timothy A Bartlett, Samuel N. Bartlett, Eugene P. Bartlett, Jr., and Lonnie R Bartlett; grandchildren, Rhonda R. Miller, Ray Garrett Jr., Christine Ciepiel, Julie Vorndran, Kimberly Hancock, Angela Rutkowski, Jason Rigley, Randall Rigley, Jennifer Morris, Matthew Daggett, Amber Daggett, Michelle Mowery, and Austin Vorndran; great grandchildren Ashley Miller, Courtney Miller, Brandon Miller, Daniel Garrett, Karston Ciepiel, Katie Hancock, Brianna Hancock, Emily Rutkowski, Brennan Rigley, Ryland Rigley, Lilly Morris and Megan Morris and Breytin Mowrey; great great grandchildren, Caden James Matlock and Christopher Nathan Matlock.

She is also survived by brothers: Lawrence Boissenett of Fort Wayne and Connor Stamey of Graham, WA; sisters: June Grieve of Kent, WA and Janice Schoonover of Camano Island, WA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene P. Bartlett, Sr. and her brother George Welling.

Funeral service was 12:30 Saturday at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road. Visitation 6 – 9 on Friday and 10:30 – 12:30 on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens.
