JOHN A. MAHONEY, 84
JOHN A. MAHONEY, 84, of Fort Wayne, died Thursday, September 15, 2005, at Ossian Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born September 29, 1920, in New Haven, Kentucky, he held various engineering positions until 1971, when he started his own business, A. Fab Enterprises Contracting. He was a graduate of St. Xavier High School, Louisville, Kentucky and 1949 graduate of The Speed School of Engineering at the University of Louisville. He was a member of American Legion Post #241; Treasurer of Holy Name Society for many years; an active community volunteer and R.S.V.P.; and member of St. Therese Catholic Church. He was a World War II Air Force Veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Rita (Wasylk) Mahoney of Fort Wayne; daughter, Monica (Terry) Hughes of Redondo Beach, Florida; sons, John B. (JoAnne) Mahoney of Fort Wayne, Donald James (Chris) Mahoney of Columbia, South Carolina and Dennis M. (Kathy) Mahoney of Fort Wayne; daughter, Mary (Hans) Christensen of Naperville, Illinois; stepchildren, Keith (Lesley) Wasylk and Brent (Deb) Wasylk, both of Fort Wayne; siblings, Paul Mahoney of Louisville, Kentucky and Louis F. Mahoney of Long Island, NewYork; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cecilia (Roth) Mahoney, on May 12, 1992; and seven brothers and sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial was Monday, September 19, at St. Therese Catholic Church, 2304 Lower Huntington Road, with Father Joe Rulli officiating. Visitation also at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, with Rosary Sunday, September 18.
Burial in Catholic Cemetery.
