GLEN D. STEBING, 83

GLEN D. STEBING, 83, died Friday, June 25, 2004, at his residence. He was born in Auburn, and was a teacher, football, basketball and track coach at South Side High School in Fort Wayne, for 38 years, retiring in 1985. He was a 1943 graduate of Manchester College and 1947 graduate of Indiana University. A World War II Army veteran, he received the Bronze Arrowhead for the D-Day Invasion of Normandy and 5 Battle Stars. His memberships included First Presbyterian Church, Waynedale Masonic Lodge, and American Legion Post 160, Roanoke. He was also a member of the Foster Park Lions Club, and received the Lions Advanced Melvin Jones Award, and Advanced W. P. Woods Award. He was Lions Past District Governor, State Convention Chair, and the first to receive the Indiana Distinguished Lion of the Year Award.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; daughter, Jeri Kolash of Houston, Texas; sons, Douglas of Folsom, Calif., David of Anchorage, Alaska, Kenneth of Boca Raton, Fla.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet M., in 1987. Service was Tuesday, June 29, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Homes, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road. Lions service was at Waynedale Masonic Lodge. Burial at Highland Park Cemetery.

Preferred memorials to Foster Park Lions Club, Waynedale Masonic Lodge and Visiting Nurse Service and Hospice.
