ARTHUR C. STEM JR., 96, of Fort Wayne, died Friday, June 18, 2004, at his residence. He was born May 9, 1908, in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He has been formerly employed by U.S. Rubber Co. and later became the Owner/Operator of several Marathon Oil Stations in Fort Wayne, then retired after his employment at Holley’s Auto Parts and NAPA Auto Parts. He was a member of Finlander Lodge 475, F. & A.M., Scottish Rite and the Mizpah Shrine.
Survivors include daughter, Dolores Ditzenberger of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Debra Simmons of Arlington Heights, IL, Frank Blacker of Cary, IL, Scott A. Bowland of Leo and Jeanie O’Brien of McHenry, IL; four great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and his niece, Vera Lee Breazeale of Hickory, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara S. Stem in 2003; daughters, Bernice Blacker in 2003 and Patricia Bowland in 1988; and grandson, James Blacker in 1986.
Funeral service was Tuesday, June 22 at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Homes, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road. Burial at Lindenwood Cemetery.
