RUTH A. BAKER, 76
RUTH A. BAKER, 76, of Fort Wayne, died Sunday, February 22, 2004, at her residence. The 1946 “Central Gal” was a Fort Wayne native and former member of the Fort Wayne Artists Guild and The Orchard Gallery of Fine Arts. She was a watercolorist and enjoyed landscapes, but excelled in portraits, with many on display at Huntington College, Taylor University, Indiana Institute of Technology, the Diehm Museum and Trinity English Lutheran Church. Mrs. Baker was a member of the Church of Divine Science and had only recently retired as a member of The Fort Wayne Celebration Singers.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Irvin “‘Bud” Baker; daughter, Donita L. (Ken) Shiveler; son, James D. (Deb) Baker, all of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Daniel (Allison) Baker, Jeffrey Shiveler, Brian Baker, Stephanie Shiveler, Diana Baker (Damian) Trabel, and Brenda Baker; brother, Donald (Betty) Shondell of Muncie; and sister-in-law, Norma Shondell of Fort Wayne.
She was preceded in death by her daughters, Lisa Kay Baker and Carol Jean Baker, and her brother, David Shondell.
Funeral service was 11 a.m. Thursday, February 26th at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Homes, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
