BETTY P. KENNEDY, 75
BETTY P. KENNEDY, 75 of Springfield, Illinois, formerly of Paris and Chatham, Illinois, died Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at her residence.
Born September 23, 1930 in Kankakee, Illinois. Her parents were Paul J. and Ina Trostle Schumacher, her father Paul died two weeks prior to her birth. She was raised by her mother and stepfather Arthur R. Morgan. She was married to her husband, William M. Kennedy of Lafayette, Indiana on December 2, 1950 in Murphysboro, Illinois.
Betty worked for the Chatham Clarion as a proofreader. She also worked at Dr. Louis Distasio’s Springfield Chiropractic office, and at Gaule-Bucks Real Estate Agency as a Realtor. She was a member of Chatham Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Springfield Chapter of Sweet Adelines. Mrs. Kennedy’s true love in life was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed listening to music, particularly when performed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband, William “Max” of Springfield; 1 Son: Dan (Holly) Kennedy of Bettendorf, Iowa; 2 Daughters: Kathy (Steve) Sperry of Belleville, Illinois and Mary Jane Kennedy of Springfield, one aunt, Irene McCague, of Fort Wayne, 7 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren. 1 Sister: Lulubelle (Bill) Helton of Springfield, 2 Brothers: Harold (wife Sherry) Morgan of Waverly, IL and Lee Morgan of Chatham. 9 Nieces and Nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, 1 brother, and her daughter Becky.
Visitation was Saturday, December 31, at Chatham Presbyterian Church, 1835 E. Walnut, Chatham, IL.
Funeral Services were Saturday, December 31, 2005 at Chatham Presbyterian Church, 1835 E. Walnut, Chatham, Illinois with Reverend Joseph Eby officiating. Graveside Service was Sunday, January 1, 2006 at Paris Memorial Gardens in Paris, Illinois, arrangements by Staab Polk Memorial Home, Chatham Illinois.
