VIRGINIA MAXINE FREE, 91, of Fort Wayne, died Wednesday, April 18, 2007, at Covington Meadows Nursing Home, Fort Wayne. Born June 13, 1915, in Jay County. She worked in the Testing Department at G.E., retiring after 34 years in 1975. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Elex/Quintas and American Legion Auxiliary #47.
Surviving are her nieces and nephews, Arlene Horn of Bryant, Indiana, Ardith Casperson of Winchester, Donna Wherry of Portland, Sharon Schaeffer of Archdale, N.C., Janice Austin of Albany, Karen Upp of Portland, Margaret Goff of Frankfort, Kentucky, Sidney Van Matre of Trinity, N.C., Christopher Van Matre of Leno Lake, Minnesota, and Robert McCroskey of Ashland, Kentucky; special friends, Tim and Loretta Madru of Fort Wayne.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter T. Free (whom she married on February 14, 1941) on July 11, 2003.
Funeral service was Sunday, April 22, 2007 at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery.
