FLORA “POLLY” (STOKES) JACOBS

FLORA “POLLY” (STOKES) JACOBS died at Englewood Health and Rehab on October 20, 2015 from Alzheimer’s complications and was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born in Fort Wayne in 1926, Polly graduated from North Side High School and worked for almost 30 years at Lincoln National Insurance Company where she was a member of Loyal Service and the Lincs. In her retirement years Polly worked part time at Fort Wayne Bible College, Taylor University-Fort Wayne and the University of Saint Francis. Polly spent much time in reading and studying the Bible, she taught children’s Sunday School classes and was a member of First Missionary Church.

Polly is remembered by family and friends for her kind, gentle and helpful spirit.

Polly had a deep love for her daughter Vicki, son and daughter-in-law Gordon and Andrea of Ossian, granddaughters, Ashlie (Jack) Smurr of Garrett, Leslie (Eric) McCombs of Noblesville, Indiana, Carrie (Shane) Bonifas of Henderson, Colorado, and great grandsons Ty Smurr, and William, Connor and Zachary McCombs. Also surviving is a sister Juanita (Terry) Parker of Auburn.

Polly was preceded in death by her husband Loris “Bud” Jacobs, parents Violet (Jewell) and Laurence Stokes, step-mother Rose Stokes, sisters Olathe Bohde, Leona Neat, Helen Matter and Nancy Rian.

A graveside service was held Friday, October 23, 2015 at 2:30 PM at Hoverstock Cemetery, CR 300W south of Zanesville, IN.
