DAVID H. LAUER, 83
DAVID H. LAUER, 83, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Fort Wayne, David retired from the Indiana Air National Guard after 36 years of service in 1986 earning the rank of Master Sergeant. He was activated and sent to France for 10 months during the Berlin Crisis. David was a classic car and airplane enthusiast. He enjoyed playing piano, listening to Big Band Music, and spending time with his family. His joking and funny sense of humor will be missed. He was a lifetime member of American Legion #241.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Lauer of Fort Wayne, daughter, Cheryl (Marion “Andy”) Sanders of Fort Wayne, granddaughters, Kari (Jared) Batten, Jenna (Glenn) Kilburn, Shelly Lauer, great-grandchildren, Wyatt Kilburn, Jackson and Jameson Batten, daughter-in-law, Nancy Martin-Lauer of WI, and brother-in-law, Dale (Donna) Getz of Fort Wayne.
David was preceded in death by his parents George and Hilda Lauer and son, David Keith Lauer.
Mass of Christian Burial was 11:00 am, Thursday, June 25, 2015 at St. Therese Catholic Church with calling one hour prior, Fr Lawrence Teteh officiating. Calling at D.O. McComb & Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Avenue Wednesday, June 24, 2015, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Burial with military honors in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
