LEFTFEST FORT WAYNE 2014
What: Second Annual LeftFest – Fort Wayne
When: Wednesday, August 13
Where: 4005 South Wayne Ave., Fort Wayne
Time: 1 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Why: To celebrate Southpaws and their contributions and to bring attention to the challenges they face adapting to a world designed for right- handed people.
Funds will be raised to give a helping South”paw” to the Allen County SPCA by encouraging attendees to drop a quarter in a special container every time they use the “R” word to mean “correct”.
Every year Southpaws celebrate International Left-handers Day around the world on August 13. Just like St. Patrick’s Day isn’t just for the Irish, Leftfest will be lots of fun for everyone. It’s a great time for other handed parents of young southpaw children to get assistance in teaching them to tie their shoes! This year the Fort Wayne celebration will be bigger with more events and activities for Southpaws and other-handed people alike to enjoy. The festivities have expanded thanks to our sponsors: The Jerome and Marganelle Henry Foundation, Sweetwater, Jimmie John’s (Downtown), CVC Communications, JH Specialty and Born Again Quilts.
The place to be is 4000 South Wayne Ave., two blocks South of Rudisill Blvd. Additional parking is available at the First Missionary Church catty-corner from the festivities.
In the 4000 block you will find food prepared by Matt and Dan the two southpaw chefs at the Friendly Fox, a 13% off sale and left-hand cookies at Born Again Quilts, Glass-blower extraordinaire Eran Park and Barber Joe’s featuring Tim the Southpaw Barber round out the block.
Several food truck vendors will be parked over at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 202 W. Rudisill from 3-8 p.m. if you wish to grab-and go.
