SCOUTING SMOKE SIGNALS
The Board of Directors of the Anthony Wayne Area Council is pleased to announce its selection of John Gliot as our new Scout Executive. John has been involved with Scouting for over 30 years, as a Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Summer Camp Staff Member, Assistant Scoutmaster, Explorer Post Advisor and for the past 16 years as a professional Scouter. John began his career with the Boy Scouts of America as a District Executive with the Keystone Area Council in Harrisburg, PA. He then served as the Council Program Director with the Central New Jersey Council in Princeton, NJ and most recently has held the position of Assistant Scout Executive with the Central New Jersey Council for the past five years. He will begin serving the Anthony Wayne Area Council on August 1.
John achieved the rank of Life Scout as a youth, is a member of the Wood Badge Eagle Patrol and is proudly a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow.
John and his wife Heather have three children; Nathan, who just completed his Tiger rank in Cub Scouts, Alex, who will be starting kindergarten in the fall and Sierra, who is three years old.
Need help pronouncing Gliot? Think “David and Goliath” and just drop the “h” in Goliath. That’s it: Gliot. Practice it a few times then swing by the Council Service Center after August 1 and welcome John to Northeast Indiana!

Since 1917, the Anthony Wayne Area Council has been enriching communities and the lives of youth in Northeast Indiana through the preparation of young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
The council is divided into six geographic districts that serve 300 scouting groups in 11 Northeast Indiana counties. 7,000 youth members participated in Scouting programs in 2010.
