VERA MARGARET JOHNSON, 73
VERA MARGARET JOHNSON, 73, of Ossian, formerly of Fort Wayne, died Wednesday, November 7, 2007, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Born March 3, 1934, in Decatur, she was a homemaker. She played saxophone, clarinet and piano in the Geels family band and then the Johnson family band. She was choir director at St. Joseph Catholic Church for many years.
Survived by her husband, Eugene J. Johnson of Ossian; sons, Richard (Nancy Neary) Johnson of Demotte, Gary (Gwen) Johnson of Rochester, Michigan, Terry (Mary) Johnson of Fort Wayne, Thomas (Susan) Johnson of Albion, and Mark Johnson of Knoxville, Indiana; daughter, Linda Adams of Austin, Texas; sister, Sister Carol Geels of Madison, Wisconsin and Dolly Ehinger of New Haven; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Geels; mother, Agnes Rumschlag; son, Steven Johnson; sister, Naomi Alles; and brother, Carl Geels.
Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, November 16, 2007 at St. Therese Catholic Church, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior to mass. Calling was Thursday, November 15, 2007 with Rosary at the conclusion of calling, at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne. Burial in Catholic Cemetery.
