ORVAL E. GIBSON, 85
ORVAL E. GIBSON, 85, died Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at Markle Health Care Center in Markle, IN. He was born in Allen County and was Chief Deputy Surveyor with Allen County Surveyors Office for 39 years retiring in 1984. He was a Charter member of St. Therese Catholic Church; Sgt in the U.S. Army in WWII and a member of American Legion Post #241, Waynedale.
Survivors include his wife, Betty L. Gibson. They celebrated their 60 wedding anniversary on June 29th. Son, Gary A. (Nancy) Gibson of Lagro, IN; daughters, Sharon M. (Jerry) Toor of Fort Wayne, Lisa R. (Todd) Smith of Huntington; son-in-law, Leonard Wirtner of Fort Wayne; brother, Albert Gibson of Florida; sisters, Ruth Brockhaus and Delores Roe both of Fort Wayne, Faye Taylor of Ossian, IN; four grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.
Preceded in death by a daughter, Carol A. Wirtner in 2005, two brothers and three sisters.
Mass of Christian burial, was 10:30am Friday at St. Therese Catholic Church, 2304 Lower Huntington Road, with calling 1 hour prior. Fr. Daryl Rybicki officiated. Calling was also on Thursday at D. O. McComb & Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Avenue. Military honors by American Legion Post #241; rosary at 4:30pm. Burial in St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery, Yoder.
