EDGAR L. SCHEUMANN, 77

EDGAR L. SCHEUMANN, 77, of Fort Wayne, died Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at his residence. Born December 31, 1928, in Adams County, he was the son of the late Herman Scheumann and Clara (Christianer). After serving in the Air Force, in Korea, then graduating from Purdue University, he worked for 30 years as an electrical engineer for Rea Magnet Wire. Before and after retiring in 1988, he and his wife, Donna bicycled throughout Europe and sold their own dried flowers and handmade brooms at Johnny Appleseed and other area festivals. He was an avid gardener, who enjoyed sharing from his many fruit trees.

Surviving are his wife, Donna M. (Meyer) Scheumann of Fort Wayne; daughter, Cynthia (Robert) Widmaier of Seattle, Washington; sons, Tom (Karen) Scheumann of Kokomo, Matt (Cindy) Scheumann and Joseph (Lisa) Scheumann, both of Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren; and sisters, Evelyn Biers and Berneice Newsom, both of Fort Wayne.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Alice Heinrich.

Funeral service was Monday at Emmaus Lutheran Church, 2320 Broadway, Fort Wayne, with Rev. Albert Keller officiating. Visitation was also at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road. Burial in Concordia Gardens Cemetery.

Preferred memorials to Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Worship for Shut-ins or Emmaus Lutheran Church.
