DEAN W. SMITH, 86

DEAN W. SMITH, 86, of Fort Wayne, formerly of Poe, died Thursday, May 11, 2006, at Towne House Retirement Center, Fort Wayne. Born May 18, 1919, in Poe, where he lived for 63 years. He was a farmer and worked in home improvement. He was a graduate of Ossian High School, where he was Vice President of his class. He was a member of Hope United Methodist Church and Farm Bureau and was President of Poe Telephone Co. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing at his home on Crooked Lake.

Surviving are his wife, Faye of Fort Wayne; daughters, Janice (Kenneth) Coleman of West Lafayette, Indiana and Barbara Felt of Fredericksburg, Virginia; grandchildren, Stephanie (Phil) Vyhanek, Doug (Pamela) Coleman, John Felt and Elizabeth (Christopher) Warren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was Monday, May 15, at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, Pastor John Randall officiating. Burial in Williamsport Cemetery, Poe.
