CHURCHWARD, WILLIAM W. “BILLY BOB”, 82, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at his home in Fort Wayne. He retired from P.N. Ruckman after 50 years. He was a member of Ironworkers Local 147 for over 50 years and was a loyal member of the Waynedale Lions Club serving for many years. Born in Poe, Indiana, on September 28, 1923. He moved to Waynedale in 1934 where he met and married Virginia Akey on June 30, 1945.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Virginia Churchward of 61 years, daughter Crystal (Churchward) Otis and son Robert (Estela) Churchward of Fort Wayne. Grandchildren Steven (Jennifer) Çhurchward, Michele (Otis) Maile and Jeremy Otis all of Fort Wayne; Lindsay Churchward of Indianapolis, Leanne Churchward of Austin, Texas, Ryan Churchward of Brooklyn, New York; great-grandchildren Zachary Maile of Waukesha, Wisconsin; Bree Maile, Steffane Maile, Ashlynn Harpel, Andrew Churchward, William Churchward and Reese Otis all of Fort Wayne. Sisters Rita Kendrick, Susan (Matthew) Vorick, of Fort Wayne, Lorraine Hoss of Indianapolis, brothers Eugene Churchward of New Haven, Paul (Carolynn) Churchward of Churusbusco, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceeded in death by; infant daughter, father Charles Churchward, mother Edna (Herber) Çhurchward, brothers Wilbur, Page, James and sisters Edna (Churchward) Imel and Cecelia Churchward.
Memorial service was Monday, May 15 at Waynedale United Methodist Church, 2501 Church St. Arrangements by Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne.
