WAYNEDALE WOODS AND WATERS

FOX ISLAND NIGHT HIKE

Fox Island County Park, 7324 Yohne Road, is rich in history and natural beauty. It also has clear starlit and moonlit skies at night. Join an Allen County Parks Naturalist as we explore the past, present and future of Fox Island while learning more about nocturnal animals and celestial objects overhead on a summer Night Hike. Dress for the weather – we won’t let a little rain stop us. Flashlights are optional, and will not be used on the hike. Insect repellent needed! Meet at the Nature Center on Saturday, June 21 at 8:30pm. The hike should be over around 9:30pm. The fee is $2 per person. Call 449-3180 to reserve your space.

FOX ISLAND COUNTY PARK NEEDS VOLUNTEERS FOR BIRD OBSERVATION BUILDING

The bird observation building at Fox Island is a peaceful place to observe nature. The park needs volunteers to keep this building open for visitors, feed the birds, and perform very light maintenance duties such as cleaning bird feeders and bird baths. There is also a working beehive for visitors to enjoy. Relax with a book while visitors troll in and out, help children with crafts, or help them identify the animals they can see. The level of interaction is up to you. Hours are flexible and weekday workers are especially needed. Please contact Jodi Leamon at 449-3184.
