FREE BICYCLE HELMET PROGRAM
Wayne Lodge #14, Fraternal Order of Police is beginning their annual fund drive for the FREE BICYCLE SAFETY HELMET PROGRAM for local children. While no date is set as of press time, it will be in June, and the exact date and time will be published and broadcast as soon as it is available. “Children at play are not always as careful as they should be,” said F.O.P. President Phil Geller “and that is why we have this program.”
“What we are doing is trying to save the lives of children.” “In addition to free helmets, uniform officers from Fort Wayne, New Haven, and Allen County conduct a 45-minute safety class held at Headwaters Park pavilion. We strongly feel that the importance of safety cannot be over stated.” “We have seen time and time again, the tragedy of kids in accidents, and it is absolutely heartbreaking. At least if they are wearing a certified bike helmet, their odds of survival with minimal injury go way up,” concluded Sgt. Geller. To help this worthwhile program, please send your check to: Wayne Lodge #14 F.O.P., 111 Three Rivers East, Fort Wayne, IN 46802 or call 422-6600 for more information.

FEATURED ARTIST FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE IS GEORGE BEALS
George Beals was a self-taught artist and a member of the Fort Wayne Artist Guild and the Hossier Salon. His wife, Doris, has been a supporting member of the Fort Wayne Art Source since it began in 1993. George worked primarily in acrylics; however, the Art Source has several of his watercolors and pastels on display. We quote George, “All my life, I have had an interest in reproducing the beauties of God’s creation. Someone has said, “All nature is too thin a veil to hide the Glory of God. One of my purposes in painting is to express how I view that beauty. I count it a real privilege to be able to paint scenes that people enjoy and with which they can identify.” George Beals said it for ALL of US that are true ARTISTS! George passed away several years ago, but our memories of our artist friend are dear to our hearts. You are invited to enjoy the display of his very special paintings at the Fort Wayne Art Source.
