The University of Saint Francis established a football program in 1998. The founders assigned Kevin Donley with the task of turning nothing into something; and that is exactly what he did. After an upsetting first season to the team, as well as the fans, the Cougars turned it completely around in the 1999 season to bring home a division championship.
This year, the Cougars have managed to secure a fourth straight division championship with an astonishing 10-0 record. Over the years, quite a crowd has begun to form at these games resulting in sell-out crowds week after week. All of the 4000 plus fans want nothing more than to see the Cougars win on Saturday. Tailgaters begin arriving as early as 9:00 am for a 1:00 pm kickoff. Most of the tailgaters line the fencing around Bishop John M. D’Arcy Stadium cheering until the last tick of the clock in the fourth quarter. These fans are by far the most dedicated fans around.
If the cougars are down and out, or ahead by a mile, they cheer until the end. These fans pick us up when we are down and bring the best out of us each and every game and for that, they are the best. This is a sincere thank-you to all of the fans and supporters of the USF football team.
