AUGUST W. BLONDELL, 82
AUGUST W. BLONDELL, 82, of Fort Wayne, passed away Friday, January 30, 2009, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home. Born April 4, 1926, in Fort Wayne, he grew up in the Fort Wayne area. He served as a Quartermaster in World War II and was a lifetime member of both American Legion Post 82 and V.F.W. Post 1421. He worked at Schueler’s Appliance for 32 years, retiring in 1989. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, people watching, and the outdoors.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Hildegard (Springer) Blondell; daughters, Cheryl (Gary Becker) Blondell of Fort Wayne, Lauri Moorer of St. Matthews, S.C. and Michelle (Tony) Stimpson of Decatur; granddaughter, Kelli (Bob, Jr.) Bennett of Swansea, S.C.; and grandsons, Andrew (Lindsey) Stimpson and Nathaniel Stimpson, both of Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Iola (Roe) Blondell; twin sons, David Lawrence and Douglas William Blondell; sister, Loretta Wetzel; and a grandson, Douglas Anthony Stimpson.
Funeral service was Tuesday, February 3 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 7819 Decatur Road, Fort Wayne. Visitation was from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, February 3, at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne.
