STILL MARCHING

Renae didn’t come home to a military convoy or a big parade on Friday, October 17th, 2003 because she didn’t return from Iraq. She came home after completing basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas and then tech training for another 7-weeks at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Dexter and fellow recruits began their training at 4:30am. She said the hardest part of her training was “folding t-shirts according to Air Force regulations” and the best part was KP Duty! (“The only chance to eat all the ice cream and chips you’d ever want.”)
Renae attended Wayne High School and graduated with honors on May 31, 2003. She was in AFROTC 4 years of high school. Renae was a proud member of the trumpet section when the Wayne High School Marching band participated in State competition in 2002 where they took 5th place. Renae also attended Anthis Career Center for Childhood Development and graduated with honors.
To the Men and Women…
for Our Freedom…We Thank You!
Renae will soon be reporting to Hills Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah to further her training as part of Operational Air Force. This continued training is to be completed in 1 year.
Renae is the daughter of Chris and Mary Dexter, Waynedale and Mark and Gail Dexter of Montrose, Michigan, granddaughter of Laura and Eugene Dexter of New Lothrup, Michigan and sister to Christy Dexter of Lennon, Michigan.
Thanks for serving Renae.
Veterans Day honors all who have served in the U. S. Armed Forces either on active, reserve or guard duty, and those who served during peacetime as well as wartime. This Veterans Day, take a moment to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy as Americans and give thanks to those who have served and are serving today.
This year’s Veterans Day parade will be observed on Saturday, November 8, 2003. Beginning at 11am the parade will march down Parnell Avenue to the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Following the parade in the Expo Center, there will be a special program to honor and award the Bronze Star to World War II Veterans.
