EUGENE W. “GENE” KLEPFER, 92
EUGENE W. “GENE” KLEPFER, 92, of Fort Wayne, died Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at Covington Manor Nursing Center. Born May 28, 1912, in Yorktown, he was a graduate of Grinnell College. Mr. Klepfer retired in 1977 as Vice President and General Manager of Wabash Fibre Box Co. He was a member and Elder Emeritus of First Christian Church, member of Vincennes Lodge No. 1, F. & A.M., Scottish Rite, and Mizpah Shrine. He was past Treasurer of the Chamber of Commerce, former member of the Board of Directors of the Y.M.C.A., former member of Junto and was a longtime member of the Fort Wayne Country Club.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen Klepfer; daughters, Susan Fleck and Marilyn (Eric) Rieke, both of Fort Wayne; son, Woodie Klepfer of Fort Wayne; brother, Max D. Klepfer of Vincennes; grandchildren, Todd Fleck, Kristin Pena, Heather Erekson, Jennifer Robinson and Jeremy Fleck; step-grandchildren, Jenny Taylor, Julie Rieke and Penny Arentson; seven great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was Saturday, June 19, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Homes, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens.
The preferred memorial is First Christian Church, 4800 S. Calhoun St., Fort Wayne, IN 46807.
