MARTHA J. (SHAFFER) STOLTE, 95

Obit-Stolte-MarthaMARTHA J. (SHAFFER) STOLTE, 95, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, Martha worked as a Public School Secretary with Fort Wayne Community Schools for 25 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of Waynedale United Methodist Church, Waynedale UMC Women’s Group and Elmhurst Garden Club. She had a passion for gardening and volunteering with her church, visiting people in nursing homes. She also enjoyed shopping, reading, and spending time with friends.

Surviving are her daughter, Phyllis (Richard) Pierce of Newnan, Georgia; step-sons, David (Kathy) Stolte of Florida and Scott (Syl) Overmeyer; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and brother, Wilbur Shaffer of Fort Wayne.
Martha was preceded in death by her son, Randall Hursh; first husband, Ward Hursh; second husband, Eugene Stolte; parents, Claude and Bessie Shaffer; step-son, Larry Stolte; brothers: Ralph, Dean, and Raymond Shaffer; and sisters, Zelma Almandinger and Cleo Ream.

Funeral Service was at 10:30 am, Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Waynedale United Methodist Church, 2501 Church Street with calling 1 hour prior. Calling also at D.O. McComb and Son’s Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Monday, September 22, 2014, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

Burial  in  Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne.
