BEULAH MARIE (HORSTMEYER) SAURER, 93

Obit-SaurerBEULAH MARIE (HORSTMEYER) SAURER, 93, of Fort Wayne died January 25, 2014, at her home. Beulah was born in Fort Wayne on July 24, 1920 and became a member of a large close-knit family. She was raised in Fort Wayne and was a student at Emmaus Lutheran School and South Side High School. After graduation in 1938, she worked as a secretary. After her marriage to Wilbert Saurer in 1946, she gave her time and energy to her husband, her children Linda and John, and cared for her family. From 1959 to her retirement at age 69, she was a secretary for Fort Wayne Community Schools. Following her retirement, she cared for her husband until his death in 1993.

Beulah was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church, and previously, Redeemer Lutheran Church. She enjoyed her home and travels.

She will always be remembered for her wonderful spirit, her faith, her devotion to her family and her delightful sense of humor.

She was preceded in death by her parents Herman and Edith Horstmeyer; her husband Wilbert Saurer; her brothers Richard and Alfred Horstmeyer; and her sister, Elizabeth (Bess) Branning.

Those surviving and feeling her loss include her children, Linda Black, John (Linda) Saurer; grandsons, Christopher Diaz, Benjamin (Kristen) Saurer and Daniel (Kendra) Saurer. Additional survivors include her sisters-in-law Lois Horstmeyer and F. Ellen (F. Ross) Vogelgesang; great-grandchildren, Autumn Ault, David E. Diaz and Evan Saurer; nieces and nephews, and her many friends and neighbors.

Funeral service was 11 AM Wednesday, January 29, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Homes, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior, Rev. Marty Hampton officiating. Calling was also held from 5 to 7 PM Tuesday, January 28, at the funeral home. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
