KINGSTON RESIDENCE CELEBRATES THE GOOD OLD DAYS

Good old days - Kingston ResidenceKingston Residence of Fort Wayne, 7515 Winchester Road, hosted a local fundraiser for the Fort Wayne Trails ~ Waynedale Initiative on Friday, September 6th from 4 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. The event was free but over $300 was generously donated by those who attended toward a Waynedale project of a safe pedestrian crossing over the Lower Huntington Bridge.

Almost 300 attendees including Kingston residents, families, and guests enjoyed 18 Model A cars that were on display compliments of the Old Fort Model A Car Club. Member Pam Baxter says, “it is our club’s pleasure to share our Model A’s with the community and the residents of Kingston. We enjoy their reminiscing as much as they enjoy seeing the cars. Many of them either owned, were courted in or learned to drive in this type of car.”

The weather that evening was beautiful for this annual event and plenty of homemade chicken and noodles with mashed potatoes, fresh, hot caramel popcorn and ice cream were served. Scheerer McCulloch Auctioneers appraised various items such as dolls, dishes, jewelry and figurines. Pictures were taken by a 1952 Co-op Tractor provided by Allen & Colleen Adams. Rich McCoy from Ossian entertained the group with lively music and a few brave souls enjoyed a couple of rounds of square dancing. Kingston Resident Stan Freet donated puzzles with the proceeds going toward Honor Flight Northeast Indiana.

Kingston Residence wishes to thank everyone for their support of the Good Old Days festival. We invite you to support our next Fort Wayne Trails ~ Waynedale Initiative fundraiser at Pizza Hut, Bluffton Road on Tuesday, October 22 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Pizza Hut will donate 15% of the sales over lunch to the Waynedale Initiative fund.
