JOHN C. “JACK” NICHTER, 83

JOHN C. “JACK” NICHTER, 83JOHN C. “JACK” NICHTER, 83, of Fort Wayne, passed away Monday, January 16, 2012 at Coventry Meadows. He was born November 4, 1928 in Fort Wayne to the late George and Ethel (Brown) Nichter.

Mr. Nichter retired from Slater Steel in 1985. He was a life-long member of St. Therese Catholic Church and a member of the Holy Name Society. Mr. Nichter was an Army Veteran, a member of American Legion #241, and volunteered for RSVP where he enjoyed working in many capacities, including, working in the police fingerprint lab.

Surviving are his wife, Myra of Fort Wayne; six children, Cyndi, John, George, Ernie, Mary, and Chris; two brothers, Jerome and George Nichter; sister, Charlene Derickson; sisters in law, Esther Hinen, Rita Leeuw, and Mary Holthaus; 16 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by four brother and four sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial was on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Therese Catholic Church, 2304 Lower Huntington Road, Fort Wayne, IN with visitation from 10:00 A.M. until mass. Father Daniel Leeuw will officiate over services. Visitation also on Thursday, January 19, 2012 from 3 to 7 P.M. at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, IN.

Burial in Catholic Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to The Alzheimer Association.
