STEVEN ANTHONY MANGONA, 61

STEVEN ANTHONY MANGONA, 61, of rural Kendallville, died unexpectedly on Sunday May 23, 2010 at 6:17 p.m. at the Loyola University Hospital in Maywood, Illinois. Due to an industrial accident that occurred at the Unilever Hammond Plant in Hammond, Indiana.

Steve was born on November 4, 1948 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Frank and Lois Mangona. His mother survives in Fort Wayne and his father preceded him in death this year.

Steve grew up in Fort Wayne and had lived in Noble County for the last 40 years. He worked the past two years for Unilever, Hammond Plant as an Electric Maintence Technician.

He was a member of the Saint Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church in Avilla. He enjoyed spending time at the lake, hunting, fishing, time with his family, gardening and being with his friends.

He is survived by his mother, three sons and two daughters in law; Vincent and Meggan Mangona of Avilla, Anthony and Tiffany Mangona and Benjamin Mangona of Sacramento, California.

5 Grandchildren: Ana Willard, Jordan and Kendra Mangona, Kynade Burnham and Dylan Brothers.

3 Sisters and 2 brothers in law; Carol Spears of Angola, Mary and Robert Stark and, Patty and Pat Kiel of Fort Wayne.

He was preceded in death by his father Frank.

Mass of Christian Burial was on Friday, May 28, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Saint Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church in Avilla.

Father Edward Erpelding and Father Cam Tirabassi celebrated the mass.

Visitation was on Thursday, May 27, 2010 from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Brazzell Funeral Home, Avilla Chapel 530 North Main Street, Avilla, Indiana 46710. The Rosary was recited following the visitation. An additional hour of calling was held one hour prior to the mass on Friday at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made in memory of Steve to Masses or a Trust Fund to the grandchildren.
