SCOUTING AROUND

SCOUTS NEED EMPTY TOILET PAPER/PAPER TOWEL ROLLS

The Cub Scouts in the Waynedale area are in need of the cardboard rolls that come in toilet paper and paper towels. Save them and turn them in to THE WAYNEDALE NEWS office at 2700 Lower Huntington Road or at Calvary United Methodist Church at 6301 Winchester Road. The Scouts are using them for a summer project at their day camp. They are also in need of clean, empty, plastic 2-Liter pop bottles – these will be used in making water rockets.

Thank you.

SCOUT AND FAMILY CAMPOUT AT

CALVARY UMC

The annual Scout and Family Campout will be held June 11, 12, 13 behind the church building at 6301 Winchester Road. Setup will start Friday evening and takedown will be Sunday after church. There will be canoe rides (depending on condition of St. Mary’s River – furnish your own life jackets), as well as canoe safety demonstrations, Dutch oven cooking demonstrations, knot tying classes, and a potluck carry-in-supper is planned for Saturday night. Admission is requested.

No open fires allowed unless you have an off-ground fire pit. The use of camping stoves is requested. There will be one main off-ground fire pit to be used for the campfire Saturday night as well as for a ceremonial flag disposal (by burning).

All Church members are invited to camp with the Scouts and their families. Visitors are welcome to come see: HOW THE SCOUTS DO IT. Bring clothing suitable for the weather – BE PREPARED.

FREE FISHING WEEKEND IS JUNE 5-6

Kids and adults can celebrate Free Fishing Weekend, June 5-6, at recreation areas located across Indiana that are planning fun fishing derbies, casting clinics, fish-cleaning demonstrations and cooking classes.

Hoosier adults do not need a license or a trout/salmon stamp to fish Indiana waters during Free Fishing Weekend. Children ages 17 and younger do not need a fishing license at any time. Although Indiana residents need no fishing license to fish public waters on Free Fishing Weekend, all other fishing regulations are still in effect.
