QUIXOTE AND STARK FINISH 1ST
Congratulations to Katie Stark for being the winning rider for the western contest events at the 4-H County Fair. Riding her gelding, Don Quixote, she placed first in pole bending and barrel racing.
She also placed first in the keyhole race, setting a new County Fair record of 10.3 seconds. This was the first time she had ever run the keyhole! Additionally, she placed second in the dash and third in the flag race. Not a bad showing for a first time entrant to the County Fair.
About the fair
The Allen County Fair, July 21-26, 2009, is a joint venture of the Allen County Fairgrounds and Allen County 4-H Clubs. The Fair is the pinnacle of 4-H member’s year. Support of the Fair is through sponsors, vendors, gate income and generous donations of the community.
The Allen County Fairgrounds is one of the newest and most modern fairgrounds in the state of Indiana.
With an original land grant from the county, the fairgrounds are self-supporting. It has been growing in size thanks to donations from corporate donors, area 4-H families, local civic organizations and other community-minded benefactors. The Allen County Fair was held for the first time on the grounds in 1990 and since then has become one of our area’s favorite summertime events.
The fairgrounds have many buildings which are rented throughout the year and are available for proms, wedding receptions, corporate banquets and meetings, company picnics, trade shows, animal shows, auctions, flea markets, scouting rallies and other special events. Camping is offered during special events and/or rallies. The buildings are non-smoking facilities and are handicapped accessible.
