PRINCIPAL FOR A DAY

Fort Wayne Community Schools welcomes 50 community members into our schools Friday, November 14, to serve as Principal for a Day. With 50 of our 53 school buildings participating, this is the largest Principal for a Day ever. The only buildings not participating are those where principals are not available because they are attending conferences or in training.

The guest principals will visit the schools from 8 a.m. to noon Friday and will have a chance to experience what a principal goes through in a day. From welcoming students into a building to dealing with concerned parents to working with teachers to improve academic achievement, principals do it all.

Following the shadowing experience, the principals and their guests are invited to lunch at Barr Street Café, where Anthis Career Center students will prepare their meal.

“We welcome the opportunity to show our guests what a principal’s job entails and how our schools operate today,” Superintendent Wendy Robinson said. “Schools can’t do this job alone and we count on our community to support our schools. We appreciate that they are giving up time in their busy schedules to spend a morning with us.”

This year, the guest principals come from a variety of occupations, leadership positions and activist organizations in our community. The list includes several Realtors, who have the unique job of helping people choose where they will live.
