ARNIE BALL HONORED WITH MAD ANTHONY’S RED COAT

The Mad Anthonys have announced that Arnie Ball has been awarded a Red Coat for 2007. Ball recently completed his 27th season as head coach of the IPFW men’s volleyball program, during which the team had a 23-8 record and competed in the NCAA championship game.

A graduate of Ball State University, Ball served as volleyball coach at New Haven and Harding High Schools before moving to IPFW. He also has vast experience at the international level, serving repeatedly as a coach of the U. S. World University Team. In 2005, Ball joined only three other collegiate men’s volleyball coaches with more than 400 wins. The American Volleyball Coaches Association selected IPFW’s Arnie Ball as Division I-II National Coach of the Year.

“Arnie Ball’s accomplishments have truly helped put IPFW and Fort Wayne on the map,” said Mike Thomas, Mad Anthonys President. “This year’s success proves that he is at the top of his game—and at the top of his field.”

“It’s a wonderful honor to be recognized by the Mad Anthonys for the accomplishments of our program over the past 25 years,” said Ball. “It’s also a special honor for me to share this distinction with my son, Lloy.”

Ball’s son, Lloy, was a three-time NCAA All-American volleyball player and is a member of the U.S. National Team. He received the Mad Anthonys Red Coat in 2004.

The 2007 Mad Anthonys Charity Classic for Children will be held Monday, June 25 at the Fort Wayne Country Club. The Red Coat Dinner, honoring Ball, Zollner Pistons legend Carl Bennett and University of Saint Francis football coach, Kevin Donley, will be held at the Grand Wayne Center on Saturday, June 23 at 5:30 p.m.
