ELMHURST SENIOR LEAGUE CHAMPIONS
The 2006 Elmhurst Senior League 15-16 Allstar Team won the District 10 Allstar Tournament by defeating Auburn Senior League by a score of 10-4 in the championship game on Monday, July 24 at Georgetown Little League.
The Elmhurst team advanced to the State Allstar Tournament that was held from July 27 through July 30. The State Allstar Tournament included teams from all around Indiana: Brownsburg, Jeffersonville, Franklin Township, Middlebury, Fort Wayne, Petersburg, Valparaiso, and New Prairie.
After three games in the preliminary round, Elmhurst Senior League advanced as the Number One seed out of their pool to face Brownsburg in the semi-finals. Elmhurst defeated Brownsburg 4-1, Sunday, July 30, to advance to that evening’s championship game of the State Allstar Tournament at the Georgetown Little League where they were defeated by Jeffersonville, 14-5.
Congratulations to the 2006 Elmhurst Senior League 15-16 Allstar Team for winning the District 10 Allstar Tournament and placing second in the State Allstar Tournament! While many teams at this level consist of players from one high school this team had representation from five different high schools: Wayne, Bishop Luers, Elmhurst, Homestead, and South Side.
Even more unusual, most of these players have played together through the Elmhurst Little League program since they were eight years old.
Team sponsorship was provided by Bruce Griffin Legacy Heating & Air.
The team consisted of: Andy Berghoff, Ryan Fuller, Brandon Kelley, Wes Springer, Nathan Lee, Joe Crouch, Matt McClellan, Ryan Green, Ryan Smith, Justin Biggs, Tim Elser, and John Kelty. The team was managed by Brent Fuller with the assistance of Jim Berghoff and Randy Crouch.
Way to go guys!
