STAFF SERGEANT PAUL S. PABLA, 23

STAFF SERGEANT PAUL S. PABLA, 23, of Fort Wayne, formerly of Huntington, died Monday, July 3, 2006, from injuries sustained in an attack in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul. He was a 2000 graduate of Huntington North High School and attended Ball State University from 2001 to 2003. During his years in high school he was active in Campus Life and the College Park Church Youth Group and participated in a short-term missions work tour to Honduras. He joined the Indiana Army National Guard in November of 1999. He was deployed to Iraq in January of 2006 and had attained the rank of staff sergeant and was assigned to the 2-150th Field Artillery. He enjoyed running, cycling, music and photography. He had a special interest in learning to speak numerous foreign languages.

Born July 10, 1982, in Huntington, he was the son of Sarvjit S. and Lisa A. (Carroll) Pabla.

Survivors include his mother, Lisa A. Carroll of Fort Wayne; a brother, Neil S. Pabla of Fort Wayne; his father, Sarvjit S. Pabla; stepmother, Tish Pabla; half brother, Nicholas I. Pabla of Fort Wayne; his maternal grandmother, Natalie Carroll of Huntington; and his paternal grandparents, Sansar and Gurcharn Pabla of Columbia City.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Theron Carroll.

Funeral service was Saturday at Huntington North High School Auditorium, 450 MacGahan St., Huntington, with Pastor Roger Vezeau officiating. Arrangements by Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington. Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Huntington County. Arrangements by Myers Funeral Home, Huntington.
