LUCILLE M. PROUTY

LUCILLE M. PROUTY, of Roanoke, died Monday, May 1, 2006, at Markle Health Care Center. Born October 22, 1917, in Allen County, she was the daughter of Anthony and Loretta (Wyss) Berg. She loved her years working as a waitress during World War II at the old Harvester Caf and Moose Lodge 20, Fort Wayne. Later she worked at Coil Engineering, Roanoke, and lastly at General Electric where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 160, Roanoke and St. Joseph Church Rosary Sodality.

She never lost her joy of being outdoors. Her walks, sitting in the sun, working in the soil, and fussing with the flowers inside and out gave her much pleasure.

She was blessed with six children, two from her marriage to Paul Frantz, daughters, Mary Ann (John) Hibbert of Huntington and Janet Shock Johnson of Fort Wayne; and four with her second husband, Cloyd D. Prouty; sons, John (Gail) of Huntington, Cloyd E. and Dennis, both of Roanoke; daughter, Deborah (Rick) Van Meter of Markle; three sisters, Murial (Harold) Rosswurm, Jane (Gerald) Ternet, Doris (Edmund) Brager; brother, Maurice Berg; grandchildren, Jim, Sandy, Phil, Kim, Brenda, Bob, Shelly, Tony, Floyd, Ron, Jim, Jeff, Ronda, Cole, Randy, Shane, Miranda, Shay, Eric, Joe, Jeff, Richie, Justin and Nathan; 30 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cloyd D., in 1971; great-granddaughter, Sabrina; and three sisters, Sister Lavern Berg, Ruth Eme Hagg and Marcella Becker.

Service was Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Roanoke, with viewing one hour prior. Calling was at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne.
