SANTA COMES TO WAYNEDALE!
On Saturday, December 3, 2005 Santa stopped off at the Waynedale Library and visited with over 60 children.
Lakeshores Neighborhood Association sponsored the event from noon to 2pm. Santa visited with each child, some too young to talk, and others with a list of requests and hopes.
A few children cried a little, but most smiled from ear to ear.
Each child sat on Santa’s lap or knee and visited with Santa while the holiday music played in the background. ALL the children received a treat bag before they left.
Most of the parents brought cameras but for those without, the children smiled for a picture taken by Renee Haugh president of Lakeshores Association. They saw many hugs and smiles.
Every child signed up for a chance to win a large basket of toys. At the end of the afternoon, Santa drew out a name. The lucky winner of a large basket of toys went to a very sweet, delightful little girl named Jillian Wilhelm. She was so excited just to see Santa and visit with him, and when she heard her name announced as the winner she was overjoyed. Jillian is a great 7 year old who resides in Waynedale.
Those children’s faces showed the joy and hopes and dreams while sitting on Santa’s lap. Thanks to the library in their support in this event and to Santa.
Santa is planning on coming back next year, too. So mark your calendars for visiting Santa at the Waynedale Library, the first Saturday in December of 2006.
Lakeshores Neighborhood Association really enjoyed this experience and is looking forward to next year and would like to make this a tradition for all the Waynedale children.
