POST 241 PRESENTS SCHOLARSHIPS

$1,000 scholarships were presented to five area students attending college. The names were announced Tuesday night, August 13, 2002 at the Post’s monthly general meeting. None of the winners were present to personally accept the checks. The Scholarship winners were: Kandace Doty of Pine Mills Road, who is attending the School of Cosmetology in Fort Wayne; Daniel Pyle of Trentman Road, who is attending Ball State University; Ryan Meek of St. Louis Avenue, who is attending Indiana University; Joshua Trenary of Muldoon Road, who is attending Ball State University; and Robert Rathsack of Hidden Ridge Drive, Milford, Ohio, who is attending Ohio University. Good luck winners; make the American Legion proud of you; the checks are in the mail.

Question: Should the Flag be used for advertising purposes?

Answer: No. The Flag should never be used for advertising purposes in any manner whatsoever. This is not to say that businesses cannot fly or display the Flag.

Question: May the Flag of the United States be used on a return label?

Answer: No. The Flag should not be printed on anything that is designed for temporary use. A return label is designed for temporary use and discard.

Question: Why is the use of the Flag permitted on a postage stamp?

Answer: The use of the Flag on a postage stamp is authorized by the United States Postal Service under rules set forth by the Executive Department of the Federal government.

Note: Moon Walk, Crab Races, Clowns, Refreshments, Caricatures by Darlene, Children’s Games, Door Prizes (bicycles; 3 boys and 3 girls; plus all kinds of toys for the kids), Entertainment, Three Commander’s from Indianapolis. – Brite-Eyes Catering-Chicken & Center cut pork tenderloin, baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw & roll – Adults $6, Children 12 and under $3.
