“NEW BOOK REKINDLES NOSTALGIC, DOWNTOWN MEMORIES!”
Responding to requests from readers of the best selling books “Wolf and Dessauer, an Album of Memories: volumes 1 and 2, a new book has been written that picks up where those books ended.
“Shopping for Memories, a Nostalgic Look at Downtown Ft. Wayne, 1900 to 1970” gives details about many of the other businesses that comprised the heart of Downtown Fort Wayne in the 1900s. Through research and personal memories from area residents, readers will be able to reminisce about “the good old days” at G.C. Murphy’s, Hutner’s Paris, Nobson’s and Stillman’s just to name a few.
Readers will also learn about businesses they may not even have known existed here in the Fort such as John Carl’s Tobacco Store (today known as Riegel’s) and Dreier’s Drug Store.
There’s even information about The Embassy Theater and WOWO Radio. “Shopping for Memories” is available exclusively at Nature’s Corner Antiques at the corner of State and Spy Run.
