MEMORIES OF YONDER HILL
by Leroy Partin
Last night I walked a lonely path,
That leads to yonder hill.
My way was bathed in soft moonlight,
And the night was warm and still.
As I walked, my memory faded back,
To a girl I used to know,
That had walked by my side along this path,
So many years ago.
I wondered if it’s in her memory still,
And maybe her heart still yearns,
To walk again to yonder hill,
Where the memory of love still burns.
Maybe in this life I’ll never know,
For we drifted far apart.
But this beautiful girl that walked by my side,
Is forever burned in my heart.
Some day fate may lead us again,
Down the path to yonder hill,
On a moonlit night in the fragrance of pines,
Then those memories would be fulfilled.
