KAMPFIRE KOOKIN’
EASY BOY SCOUT BEEF STROGANOFF
4 pounds lean hamburger (ground round)
2 tbsp. Vegetable oil
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
1 pkg. dry onion soup mix
2 cans water
salt & pepper to taste
1/2 pint sour cream
2 small cans mushrooms or 1 large can
(4 lbs. round steak may be substituted for the ground round/hamburger but the meat should be cut into serving size pieces and cooked for 1-1/2 to 2 hours to tenderize.)
Brown meat in vegetable oil and then drain. Mix soups and water together and pour over meat. Season to taste. Cover and simmer for 1 hour. Add sour cream and mushrooms. Serve over cooked noodles or rice. Also good over bread.
