PAUL RYKARD, 63
Paul Rykard, 63, died Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at his Fort Wayne residence. Born in Middlesboro, Kentucky, he worked for 31 years at Fort Wayne Phelps Dodge coordinating the safety program. He was Past President of the Paulding County Bluegrass Association and American Institute of Parlimentarians. He was also a Licensed Auctioneer and he was the President of the Belle Vista – Allendale Neighborhood Association for the past 9 years. He was also awarded a Kentucky Colonels Award and in 2003 was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash Award by Governor Frank O’Bannon. He was a member of Convoy United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife Billie Rykard, Fort Wayne; sons William Edward Rykard, Decatur, Indiana; Paul Rykard, Jr., Fort Wayne; step son Robert Zimmerman, Monroeville; step daughters Judy Lynne Cole, Fort Wayne; Beryl Sue Noble, Fort Wayne; sisters Lorene Lawson & Della Chadwell, both of Middlesboro, Kentucky; brother James Rykard, Fort Wayne; step grandsons Chad, Corey, & Adam Noble, step grandsons Cody, Lance, & John Shifferly, step granddaughter Cathy Rockman, and 7 Great Grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, October 13, 2003 at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home for Funerals with burial in Prairie Grove Cemetery. Memorials to Cancer Services of Allen County.
