NILES “BUD” K. FRY, 79
NILES “BUD” K. FRY, 79, of Centerville, Ohio, formerly a 60-year resident of Fort Wayne, died Saturday, March 20, 2004, in Centerville, Ohio. Born June 22, 1924, in New Haven, he was the Manager of City Circulation for Fort Wayne Newspapers for 34 years. He graduated from Convoy High School, Convoy. He was inducted into the Fort Wayne Baseball Hall of Fame Association, on April 26, 1991. He won the Ted Johnson Memorial Trophy, in 1947 for most valuable player. He was a member of Fort Wayne Turners. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne.
Surviving are his daughter, Marcia Kiddon of Centerville; son, Lonny (Sue Ellen) Fry of Centerville; sisters, LaVonne Baxter of Fort Wayne, Romaine Smith of Woodstock, Georgia and Jean Lahrman of Fort Wayne; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie L. Schmidt Fry, in 1994; parents, Ralph and Verona Heinfeldt Fry; and sister Theola Poling.
Service was Wednesday, March 24th at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road. Military honors by American Legion Post 241 at the Cemetery. Burial at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
