RANDOLPH H. “BOOB” GIANT, 89
RANDOLPH H. “BOOB” GIANT, 89, a lifelong resident of Jefferson Township died Thursday, March 11, at Lutheran Hospital. Born January 13, 1916, he was a lifelong farmer retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Besancon, in New Haven; was an usher for 50 years; a member of the Holy Names Society of the Church and the St. Vincent DePaul Society at the church. He graduated from Monroeville High School in 1933. Enjoyed bowling, playing baseball, golfing and playing cards. He was married to Pauline A. Sorg for 54 years.
Surviving are sons, Donald J. (Lynn) Giant M.D., Fort Wayne and John R. (Laurie) Giant Monroeville; daughters, Mrs. Paul (Rita M.) Brueggeman, Mrs. Joseph (Mary C.) O’Shaughnessey, Mrs. David (Rose M.) Oberley, all of Monroeville; brother, James L. Giant Fort Wayne and sisters; Mrs. James (Maybelle) Ryan, Sarasota, Florida and Mrs. Thomas (Mary M.) Sorg of Fort Wayne and 13 Grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph A. Giant and Cloe I. Myers; two brothers, Joseph J. (Jake) Giant and Carlton M. Giant; and his wife, Pauline A. Sorg.
A Prayer Service was held Monday, March 14, at the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Louis Besancon Catholic Church.
A Special Rosary Service was Sunday, March 13, at the funeral home.
Memorials to Masses to the church or gifts to the St.Louis Besancon Building Fund.
