3-DAY RUN DEDICATED TO FALLEN MILITARY VETERANS

Run for the Fallen St. Joe Hessen CasselTo honor fallen military veterans, a group of runners ran from Fort Wayne to Indianapolis this past weekend, May 13-May 15. The memorial run was called Run For The Fallen and started at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum on Friday.

Each mile was dedicated to an Indiana veteran. More than a dozen active military, veterans and community members participated in the trek. The running team stopped to salute and presented an American Flag as well as commentated at each stop describing the fallen veteran that was honored at that point.

Race Director for the event Don Finngan mentioned, “The 3-day run honors 232 heroes. It will consist of 140 plus miles throughout Indiana.“

The course for the run included Fort Wayne, and along their route just south of the interchange of Interstate 469 and Indiana 27, they passed St. Joe Hessen Cassel School. Students from the school lined the fence, waving their U.S. flags in honor of those who gave all.

Closing Ceremonies concluded at Veterans Memorial Plaza downtown Indianapolis.
