SONS OF THE AMERICAN LEGION POST #241 DONATES TO BOY SCOUTS

(l-r) Walt Pressler Troop 344 Committee Chairman, David Rowe. Scouting Coordinator, Lucas Scout, Jacob Scout, Sam Watkins, Asst. SM, Alex Scout, Eli Scout, James Scout, Jason Williamson (SM) Scout Master receiving donation from Greg Spaulding SAL Commander making donation.

The Sons of the American (SAL) Legion Post #241 located on Bluffton Road has made a generous donation to send two boys to summer camp in June 2019. The Boy Scout Troop 344 is sponsored by the local Waynedale United Methodist Church.

Thanks to the SAL American Legion Post #241 donation, Troop 344 boys will be able to attend summer camp at Anthony Wayne Area Council Chief Little Turtle located near Ashley, Indiana. This year the cost of one week at camp for each boy is $320.00. This covers food and camp activities.

Each year we have parents who would have to turn down their son’s request to go to camp for lack of funds. Summer camp is a major event of the year for boy scouts. While at camp, boys have lots of fun, learn new life long skills, make new friends, and work on merit badges such as camping, cooking, swimming, first aid, emergency preparedness, etc., that help them earn rank in the troop. The top rank for boy scouts is Eagle Scout.

The boys meet at the church, located on the corner of Old Trail Road and Church Street. The meetings are held on Tuesdays from 7:00PM to 8:30PM, and all school age boys are eligible to join Boy Scouts.

Young boys starting in first grade are eligible to join Cub Scouts and after age eleven to join Boy Scouts. Parents, please feel welcome to bring your boys to one of our Tuesday night meetings to discuss how they can become involved in Cub Scouts or Boy Scouts.

Thank you SAL American Legion Post 241! Your donation is greatly appreciated!
