LARRY L. SORG, 73
LARRY L. SORG, 73, of Fort Wayne, died on Friday, December 4, 2015, 11:07 a.m., from cancer. His son and daughter-in-law, Ric and Sheryl and a family friend were by his side at Hospice. He was born November 12, 1942, in Fort Wayne. He was a son of the late Delbert L. and Dwaine J. (Muldoon) Sorg.
Larry lived his life in Fort Wayne, graduated from Central Catholic High School and worked at Sorg Construction & Excavating, and Harvester, retiring in 1979. He owned and operated L & S Auto Parts & Performance Engineering and Superior Roofing Co., retiring in 2012.
He enjoyed cooking, playing cards, fishing, watching football, drag racing, family, friends and his dogs, Sadie and JoeJoe. Larry also enjoyed building and racing top fuel dragsters and funny cars. He earned his top fuel drivers license and raced most of his life. He was among “the best of the racers” on Top Fuel E.T. Best List, etc. He was a member of NHRA, IHRA, UDRA, American Legion Post #241. He was proud of the military and the accomplishments of his kids.
Larry is survived by his sons, Ric G. (Sheryl A. nee Bryan) Sorg and Todd M. Sorg, both of Fort Wayne, Kelli R. (Sorg) and Thomas A. Jones of Fairhope, Alabama; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brother, Ronnie (Sandy) Sorg of Fort Wayne; and nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial was 11 a.m., Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Saint Joseph Hessen Cassel Catholic Church, 11337 US 27, Fort Wayne, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Visitation also from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2015, at Tom Mungovan Funeral Home, 2221 S. Calhoun St., Fort Wayne. Burial in Catholic Cemetery, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne.
