WAYNE SOCCER WINS SECTIONAL!

Wayne-Soccer-sectional-champs-2014-On October 8, 2014 South Side High School defeated Norwell in penalty kicks and later that night Wayne High School defeated Belmont by a score of 2-1 to move on to the sectional championship.

On October 11, 2014 Wayne High School would play South Side for the sectional championship at Norwell High School.

The first half of the game went back and forth with both teams not being able to pick up a goal. In the second half the action picked up where the first ended; with nobody able to score. The intensity picked up in the final twenty minutes of the game as both teams were trying desperately to score the winning goal. As the play intensified the plays got a little rough and the referee issued some yellow cards. With about fifteen minutes to go South Side had possession of the ball in Wayne territory but Wayne countered and quickly moved the ball down the other side of the field. This led to Jorge Silva getting control of the ball on a breakaway and scoring a goal. South Side then needed to try and score to tie the game and possibly send it to overtime. For the final, Wayne came on strong, adjusted their defense and held South Side scoreless to win the Sectional 1-0.

Wayne Generals Soccer is coached by Jake Sharin, Assistant Coaches include: Josh Stahl and Aung Nyein.
