RUTH MARY PARKISON KOENIG, 87

RUTH MARY PARKISON KOENIG, 87, died Tuesday, September 25, 2012 as a result of injuries sustained in an accident at home the preceding day. Ruth Mary was married to Edward Koenig of Fort Wayne. Ruth Mary was employed by Fort Wayne Community Schools for 22 years as the secretary of Maplewood Elementary School and an additional 13 years as Administrative Secretary at the FWCS Administration Center. She was deeply loved by her family and a confidante to all in need. She enjoyed volunteering at the Anthony Wayne Church of God Mission House and was a long time member of the Pro To chapter of Allen County Extension Homemakers. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends. Ruth Mary and her husband Ed had strong ties to their Fort Wayne home and activities, but also wintered in Lakeland, Florida, enjoying an active social life full of activities and friends.

Along with her husband she was also survived by her sister, Marge Clendenen; her daughter, Barbara (Rick) Dahman; step children, Sharon Stauffer, Paula Koenig, and Bill Koenig; four grandchildren, Kelley (Eric) Nelson, Andrew Dahman, Robert Marks, and Chris (Gretchen) Marks; four step grandchildren, Laura Stauffer, Cameron Stauffer, Mason Koenig, and Nolan Koenig; eleven great grandchildren plus many loved and loving nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Parkison in 1985 and her daughter Janet Marks in 1996.

Memorial service was 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Faith United Methodist Church, 207 E. DeWald, Fort Wayne, IN. Visitation from 4:30 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2012 at Elzey Patterson Rodak Home For Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Rd., Fort Wayne. There were private graveside service at Prairie Grove Cemetery Saturday morning for family members.
