ALWAYS FIGHTIN IRISH
On autumn Saturdays, more than 80,000 blue-and-gold-clad fans pack the Notre Dame Stadium to enjoy one of the greatest atmospheres in college football. Gifted coaches—including Lou Holtz, Ara Parseghian, and Frank Leahy—and a steady stream of talented, hardworking players have led the Fighting Irish to an enviable record 11 national championships, seven Heisman award winners and 99 All-Americans.
Current University of Notre Dame senior athletic director John Heisler and Tim Prister have come out with a new book Always Fighting Irish: Players, Coaches, and Fans Share Their Passion for Notre Dame Football chronicling all things Notre Dame. Including personal stories from football greats, such as infamous coach Lou Holtz and Rocket Ismail, the university’s prestigious football program shines as brightly between each page like the sun bounces off the Golden Dome.
Always Fighting Irish: Players, Coaches, and Fans Share Their Passion for Notre Dame Football is the ultimate compendium of everything that is special about the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, and Fighting Irish football. From Joe Montana to Brady Quinn to George “The Gipper” Gipp, Fighting Irish greats from across the decades recall what it was like playing in South Bend. Fans relish stories about the greatest moments, games, and teams from more than a century of competition as well as recollections of the University of Notre Dame’s best hangouts, landmarks, and traditions. Highlights in this book include:
•The 100 most important moments in IN football history
•Beloved landmarks and memories from South Bend
•ND coaching legends, from Knute Rockne to Dan Devine
•The greatest players in Fighting Irish football history
Like each player or fan, each passage is different and stresses something unique.
